The Botox Basics
I receive Botox in my jaw (the masseter muscle to be specific). I usually receive 30-40 units for each side. Where I am, it usually costs about $10-$15/unit. I chose my jaw because it relaxes the muscle to help you stop clenching so often. If you struggle with teeth clenching or grinding, I highly recommend it. My dentist was actually the first person to recommend Botox for this reason, and I had no idea it would help slim my face until I saw the results! I also didn’t experience any differences in my biting or chewing, even though it helped with the clenching.
The Results
I noticed results in my jaw after the second session. From there, I repeat it three to four times a year. It truly depends on how fast your body metabolizes Botox on the frequency you require. A few have asked me if I experience swelling or bruising; I personally do not. I would encourage you to talk with your injector about this!
Other Options
A few people have asked me if I have tried Daxx. Personally, I haven’t – but I have done Dysport and like it! Dysport kicks in faster than Botox. I recommend trying both and deciding which is your personal preference based on what your body responds to best. Your injector can also help answer questions about the differences.

I’ve had people ask if I use Botox or filler in other areas. The only experience I have other than my jaw is in my forehead to help lift eyes (or hooded eyes) as well as cheek filler once, years ago. I haven’t had it again since.
